Taking it to the Streets - Recon Style
Recon Ministries is an initiative of
Vicyouth; largely sponsored by ADRA Australia and the Mitcham ADRA Op Shop with product sponsorship from Sanitarium and local businesses.
Recon Ministries- which focusses on helping at risk young people including the drug dependant, homeless, lonely, long term unemployed and refugees within our community - would also like to thank the many individuals and church groups who have also provided financial and product sponsorship.
At present RECON Ministries is operating a street van in Lilydale/Mooroolbark,Springvale and Dandenong/Noble Park with plans to open later this year in the Western suburbs. Recon also operated a Street Van in the Latrobe Valley in 2004 to meet community needs at that time.
RECON Ministries began operations with a Street Van in Springvale in Oct 2002 and now has over 100 Street Van volunteers in Victoria.
Recon Ministries also helped organise "The First National Harm Prevention Conference", which was held in Melbourne in 2005 and featured eminent national and international experts who spoke on the effects of drug and alcohol. Over 100 delegates from all over Australia attended this conference. |
